This reno was slated to happen in the future, however, a massive leak in the shower moved this project from “at some point” to must do this now! When you see gushing water coming down into your family room from the shower you know you have a problem. Of course, just fixing the leak wasn’t going to work as the bathroom was stuck way back in time and needed a complete gut. It was a large space but entirely misused. The shower was tiny, the bathtub enormous and the toilet was in a very awkward space. Of course, once the bathroom was going to get gutted it also meant that the small and oddly shaped closet also needed updating. Walls were moved, plumbing was moved, odd decorative ceiling elements were removed, 6 windows were turned into 3 large windows, large awkward doors were switched to smaller pocket doors and the bathroom and closet became much more inviting, serene, and useful spaces. The bedroom was added on to the project as it was going to look dated next to the updated bathroom and closet. Carpet was ripped out and replaced with hardwood flooring, moldings were taken out, walls were refinished, windows were replaced, ceiling lighting was added, pocket doors were installed as the original doors were awkward, and the same paint color was continued from the bathroom and closet.
The goal was to make this a peaceful and relaxing space but that still had a lot of fun injected into it. That was achieved by the vibrant artwork and pops of color added in the accessories. Now, it’s truly a relaxing and happy haven.
