I’ve always had a passion for design and entertaining. Ever since I was a little girl, I have spent many a waking hour thinking about how to make rooms more functional, how to make spaces flow better, and how to add “pop” to dull interiors.

Interior Design

My design philosophy is simple: you don’t need to spend a lot of money to get a great room. I love looking for bargains and imagining spaces that truly reflect the people who live there. My personal aesthetic is very beach-inspired, with influences from the south of France. I love to travel and enjoy incorporating what I see on my travels into my designs. I love to bring the outdoors in, and to create light-filled spaces that bring energy and happiness.  Most importantly, I love helping people discover their own personal aesthetic, and designing spaces that reflect a unique personality. When a client tells me they love walking into a room, I know I’ve done my job.

Event Planning Tips

Along with writing about design and travel, I also want to share with you event planning tips I’ve picked up along the way. I used to plan everything from large to small scale events while working at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and continued long after I left the Bay Area.  To this day, when planning events, I always begin with the guest experience.  This means asking, at the outset: “If I was a guest at this event, what would I hope to get from it?  What memories will I take away?”  (The answer is always something more interesting than a simple list of food and drink.)  Life is so busy these days that each event should feel like a worthwhile, rewarding break from the ordinary – even if only for a few hours.  Guests should leave feeling like they experienced something special, and the hosts should feel like everything went smoothly and that they were able to truly enjoy their own event. Nothing is worse than hosting a party that you were never able to enjoy!  I always felt like my job was done when everyone – even the hosts – were able to relax and create new, happy memories. Hopefully, I can help you create your own special memories the next time you entertain!

In the end, my design and event planning philosophies are identical: I aim to create spaces and events that make people happy. I love what I do and it brings me joy, so in working together I hope to share some of that joy with you.
