Swiss Style

Crans-Montana, Switzerland

This studio apartment was stuck in the 70s and needed a complete overhaul. As always, budget was important and of course as this was in Switzerland, everything is expensive. The kitchen and bathroom were fully gutted but no major structural changes were made. There was a false ceiling that was taken out as that made the kitchen seem even smaller than it already was. The floors in the kitchen, living, and dining areas stayed as they were in decent shape. The bedroom area floors and the bathroom floors were removed and replaced with tile floors. We kept the armoires but moved them to the dining area. We also repurposed the dining table as the owners had it in another space and it worked in this apartment. All of the other furniture is new. This apartment needed to work as a rental and also as a place for the owner’s guests to stay. All the furniture needed to be practical and most of it does double duty. The sofa is a pullout coach, the armoires, and tv area are the only spaces to put away clothes and linens. It has now been turned into a clean, cozy, modern, and fun space that allows for the enjoyment of the beautiful mountain vistas. A truly restful mountain retreat.
